Nest & Mallet is the Pretoria based woodwork studio of designer-maker Dirk Cajada. Technically speaking, the Nest & Mallet brand was established 2021, but really at work in the founder’s life since childhood.
Dirk is of Portuguese decent and grew up in a small town. Days after school and holidays meant time to potter around with random materials and dumpsite finds! In his student years Dirk designed and made steel furniture for family and friends. Woodwork was an inevitable progression. Nest & Mallet was born after a long stint at a manufacturing and Alternative Building Technology company.
Our aim is:
