Nest & Mallet installed FSC certified Spruce wood flooring in this Irene home renovation. The existing suspended wood floor was failing due to termite damage (not recent) and damp issues. The floor planks, joists and the Z-folding door’s bottom rail were replaced.
Remedial work included restoring adequate sub-floor ventilation by passive design principle. We installed four black steel vent stacks along the building’s length (in services alley). The stacks heat up during the day time and establish adequate sub-floor cross ventilation due to rising warm air. We used 110mm PVC fittings for the vent stacks below ground to eliminate rust and maintenance issues.
